Welcome to the Rotary Club of Key Largo and come join us in celebrating our 25th anniversary this Rotary year.  Every Rotarian in our club takes an active role in making every club endeavor meaningful  and successful .  Our members are very diverse in their private and professional lives, but as Rotarians, we all unify as one driving force to enrich our community and help better the lives of those that need our help.  Our primary focus is on youth and education as we support many programs involving the education and development of young people in our schools and local organizations.  We were the first Rotary club in the Keys to pioneer vocational and alternative education scholarships to those wishing to improve themselves and remain working in our community.  Over the years we have awarded over $100,000 in vocational scholarships to many different recipients to assist them in achieving their career goals.

The Rotary Club of Key Largo also chartered the Interact Club of Coral Shores High School and co-sponsors both of the Interact Clubs at Coral Shores High and Island Christian School along with the Upper Keys Rotary Club.  Each year since 2006, we have awarded at least one, and sometimes two, $5,000 college scholarships to an outstanding Interact student.  Additional scholarships of over $30,000 have also been awarded to several different Interact students over the years.  We also support the Monroe County Take Stock in Children scholarship program, which is a mentor based program targeting lower income students to help ensure that they graduate high school and move on to college.  Over the years our club has raised and donated approximately $85,000 to the Take Stock program.

Becoming involved in Rotary is not easy, but anything that is worthwhile is seldom easy.  I am of the belief that everyone holds something that they can offer to enhance our club.  The question is, do you have the passion, desire and time to weave what you possess into a life of being a Rotarian?  If you think Rotary might be for you, we would love to have you as a guest at one of our weekly meetings.  Please contact me or one of our 50 other members for a free invitation to attend.

Sincerely Yours in Rotary Service

Cris E. Beaty
